 Misconduct Description for DOH Webpage:The physician assistant did not contest the allegations, in full satisfaction of the charges, of committing professional misconduct by having been disciplined by the Virginia Board of Medicine for issuing prescriptions to four individuals, some prescriptions were for controlled substances, beyond the scope of a physician assistant’s practice agreement and outside of a bona fide practitioner-patient relationship.

During the period of probation, the physician assistant may only practice as a physician assistant when subject to review by a licensed physician, board certified in an appropriate specialty, as a practice and records supervisor who shall not be the physician assistant’s on-site supervising physician and not in an employment relationship with the physician assistant. The physician assistant must also enroll in and successfully complete Continuing Medical Education as directed and approved by the Director, including in the area of prescribing.
