 Action Description for DOH Webpage:This order is a modification of BPMC Order #18-056 and does not constitute a new disciplinary action. The physician has completed his Clinical Competency Assessment and based upon all relevant facts the licensee’s order is modified. The license limitation precluding all prescribing of controlled substances, except those medications listed in Exhibit C, remains in effect but allows the physician to continue prescribing those medications allowed in Exhibit C within the practice of Neurology. The physician may not practice or prescribe those medications in the fields of Addiction Medicine or Chronic Pain Management. The physician must also submit to a medical and neurocognitive evaluation approved by the Director and enroll in and successfully complete a program of intensive and participatory workshops on the subject of patient communication. The physician remains subject to the probation terms and conditions previously imposed in BPMC Order 18-056 and may be subject to additional conditions or limitations determined by the Director. The physician completed the medical and neurocognitive evaluation on May 29, 2019 and September 3, 2019; the patient communication on August 2, 2019 and the period of probation ended on March 20, 2021. The physician remains subject to the license limitations precluding the prescribing of all controlled substances except those medications listed in Exhibit C of BPMC Order 18-056. The physician may only prescribe those allowed medications within the practice of Neurology and may not practice or prescribe those medications in the fields of Addiction Medicine or Chronic Pain Management.
 Misconduct Description for DOH Webpage:The physician did not contest the charge of having committed professional misconduct by practicing the profession of medicine with negligence on more than one occasion by failing to render appropriate care and treatment to five patients and for inappropriately prescribing medications including controlled substances to those patients.
