Volunteers at the New York State Veterans Home at Montrose make a difference in the lives of residents, families, and staff every day. Their responsibilities are varied and extensive. Our goal is to make your volunteer experience a valuable one, while also benefiting our residents. Once your application has been received, you will be contacted to arrange a tour and a short interview. You will also attend a short volunteer orientation once your application has been accepted. Volunteer placement will be made based upon the individual’s interests and volunteer opportunities available.

We are actively looking for volunteers to assist in the following departments:
Clinical
- assist residents getting to and from their medical appointments at our in-house clinic.
- Monday through Friday morning hours.
Recreation
- help escort and assist residents during various programs such as bingo, cooking, arts & crafts, or special events.
- visit our residents on a one to one basis in their rooms or on the unit. Flexible hours.
Pastoral Care
- assisting with lay pastoral care duties such as reading the Bible to residents.
